About RooferRated
RooferRated helps homeowners check a roofing contractor before signing. We publish sourced public facts about roofers, from license boards, city permit records, and Google, and a score that explains itself. Check a roofer before you sign.
Why we exist
A roof replacement is a rare, expensive purchase, and storm season brings out contractors who won't be around when the warranty matters. Star ratings don't say whether a roofer is licensed, pulls permits, or has been disciplined by the state. We put those public records in one place.
Independence
- Companies cannot pay to change their score or ranking. There is no paid placement and no pay-per-lead ranking.
- Paid features for companies, if we ever offer them, will be tools, never better scores or rankings.
- We are not affiliated with Google, any licensing board, any city, or any company we cover.
Editorial standards
- Facts, with sources and dates. Every fact on a profile shows where it came from and when we checked it.
- Missing data is neutral. “Not required” and “no record found” never count against a roofer.
- No accusations. No matched permits is never described as unpermitted work, and no matched license is never described as unlicensed. Only actions published by a licensing board lower a score, and we use the board's own wording.
- Roofers only. Businesses whose main trade isn't roofing (painters, gutter or window companies, insulation, handymen, suppliers, directories) are left out of the rankings. Franchise locations are labeled with their brand.
- Claims are labeled as claims. What a company says on its own website is shown as its claim, not a verified fact.
- We don't copy reviews. We show totals and dates from Google and link to the original.
